Synopsis:
In 1969, Rupert Murdoch acquires the struggling British newspaper The Sun and recruits Larry Lamb, a Yorkshireman of working-class origins, as its editor, tasking him with reinventing the failing broadsheet as a populist tabloid capable of overtaking the dominant Daily Mirror. As Lamb trades sober news coverage for sensationalism, celebrity and scandal, the pair build a formula that would make The Sun Britain's bestselling newspaper, and presage many of the forces that later reshaped global media in the Murdoch model.
Review:
An irreverent, breathlessly paced recap of Murdoch's tabloid revolution, carried by fiery lead performances even as its moral stance toward its subject remains deliberately, provocatively opaque.
